Terms of Use
The short version: Dibs helps your group work out who owes what. It doesn't move money, and the amounts are only as accurate as the receipt and the taps.
These terms are an agreement between you and Entropy Positive ("we", "us") for using the Dibs app and this website. By using Dibs, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Your account
You need a Google account to sign in, and you must be at least 13 years old to use Dibs. You are responsible for what happens on your account, so keep your device and Google account secure.
What Dibs does, and doesn't do
- Dibs calculates shares of a bill and keeps a running record of balances in your groups.
- Dibs does not send, receive or hold money. Recording a payment in the app only notes that you settled up somewhere else. Paying each other is between you and your group.
- Receipt scanning is automatic and can make mistakes. Check the items, prices, tax and tip before you rely on a split. We aren't responsible for disputes between group members about amounts owed.
Your content
You own what you add to Dibs: your groups, bills and receipt photos. You give us permission to store, process and show that content to your group members, but only so we can run the app. You are responsible for having the right to share anything you upload, and for only inviting people who expect to hear from you.
Acceptable use
Don't use Dibs to break the law, harass people, send spam invites, upload content that isn't yours to share, or try to access data or accounts that aren't yours. Don't interfere with the service or try to reverse engineer it. We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
Premium and Group Pass
- Dibs is free to use, with some limits, such as the number of receipt scans. Premium and Group Pass remove those limits.
- Purchases are made through the App Store or Google Play, and their terms apply to billing, renewals and refunds. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in your App Store or Google Play account settings, at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Prices are shown in the app before you buy. If we change a price, it applies from your next renewal, and the store will tell you first.
- Refund requests go to Apple or Google, which decide them under their own policies.
Changes and availability
We're improving Dibs all the time, so features may change. We try to keep the service running, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. If we ever shut Dibs down, we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to export your bills.
Ending your use
You can stop using Dibs at any time and ask us to delete your account, as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms.
Disclaimers and liability
Dibs is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for amounts you or your group owe each other. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
Apple-specific terms
If you downloaded Dibs from the App Store, these terms are between you and Entropy Positive, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also let you know in the app. If you keep using Dibs after a change, you accept the new terms.
